Espresso Mi Cultura
IN THE COMMUNITY

Espresso Mi Cultura Bookstore is proud to announce that it is an official merchant for UFW products. We carry bumper stickers, pins, UFW flags (union made), mousepads and CDs. Net profits generated from the sale of UFW merchandise benefit the work of the United Farm Workers, and all merchandise is sanctioned by the UFW for sale and endorsed by the UFW. Come by and support the UFW!

Espresso Mi Cultura actively supports local community groups by attending events and making our books available. We have proudly supported:
Los Angeles Times' Book Festival, CultuAztlan's "Dia De Los Muertos" celebration, The Los Angeles International Latino Film Festival, the City of Pasadena's Hispanic Street Festival, the City of San Fernando Heritage Festival, the Hispanic Nurses Association's Annual Conference, Annual conferences of the California Association of Bilingual Educators (CABE) in Los Angeles & San Francisco, UCLA Raza Women's Conference, Los Angeles Community College Community Festival, Mount St. Mary's College La Raza Arts Festival, the Sol Festival, Artists Network of Refuse & Resist, and numerous community events. Please email us if you would like Espresso Mi Cultura at your next event in the community.

Espresso Mi Cultura has been the recipient of community commendations including special recognition by the City Council of the City of Los Angeles, and most recently as Small Business of the Year by the Christopher Street West Foundation of West Hollywood. We actively support other community centers that promote the Latino/a / Chicano/a / Indigenous culture, arts and human rights in various communities such as Self Help Graphics, Plaza de la Raza, the Gay & Lesbian Center, the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN), Center for Human Rights Los Angeles (CHRLA), MEChA, and other activist organizations. We encourage you to support the community network by visiting their websites, as well as www.LatinoLA.com.

We are proud to be part of the most unique and long overdue exhibit of Chicano/a art currently traveling 15 cities in the U.S. over the next five years. Chicano Now: American Expressions, is a 5,000-square-foot interactive exhibit, produced in collaboration with actor/entertainer and prolific art collector Cheech Marin. With his guidance and support, the exhibit weaves tradition, history and, of course, humor into a multi-media expression of the lives and rich contributions of Chicanos. Written primarily by Culture Clash in collaboration with a prestigious team of academics, researchers and artists, Chicano Now features custom, original art, three-dimensional environments, original performances, film/video presentations, music, history, artifacts, and interactives.

Espresso Mi Cultura is featured as an installation in this exhibit as an example of cultural spaces that have emerged throughout the United States that showcase Chicano art and culture. Chicano Visions, the accompanying exhibit features the extensive private art collection of comedian/actor Cheech Marin. This exhibit is nothing short of breathtaking and certainly brings attention to the prolific wealth of artistic talent too long overlooked in our community. Visit this page for information on where this exhibit is currently showing and make sure you pay a visit when it arrives in your hometown.
